9.30.96 dr.orsini note: start lg animal, horses and goats, on monday. wear scummy clothes!! You will get drek all over yourself. overalls would not be inappropriate. go over figures in dyce for the exam friday. dr.orsini says the exam will be fair. tomorrow: look at opposite sex animal. basically, after today, all review. go over everything you are unsure of. no chalk talk tomorrow am. wed. am there WILL be a chalk talk/ go over layout of test and scope of material. Meg and Kristen set up the practice practical that dr.orsini never even looked at so don't think it's the SAME as the test... will be 40 tables with specimens, dyce figures, and x rays. 4 stations. specimens could be bones, bodies, etc. you get 90 min for that part. class split in half. first group A-Kerr, does written first. (So, I do written first.) Written will be in Rm.A - will have 5 questions, one from each lecture. Practical = 80 points Written = 100 points, but is only worth 20% of the grade. Don't bring STUFF to exam. Just gloves, writing implement. Lab will close Thursday at 1 PM. Note that the practical isn't timed per station. 90 min total. Try to pace yourself. There are 40 items, so you should use about 2 min each. And obviously, you must avoid the appearance of impropriety. note: always make sure you know species, sex, fore/hind limb, etc. Don't RUSH yourself. get oriented as to med/lat, cran/caud, etc. Step away from the table to write your answer down. You'll be using a clipboard with an answer sheet and a cover sheet. Try to avoid stressing out, and get a good night sleep before hand. So...what's going to be on the exam? Look at the syllabus. See how many days were spent on each topic. 20% of labs were on thoracic limb musculature. Only one day was spent on neck muscle. 25% of time was spent on cat! Also make sure to look at opposite sex specimens. If you go to your first table and you can't think of an anwser, move on. Don't freeze. Go to your happy place. Calm down. Don't make stupid mistakes just because you're anxious. THere will always be questions you can't answer. Don't panic. Most of the questions are pretty average.
